editing Services.

Is it time to call in a Copy Editor? Below I’ve answered some FAQs.

  • Copy editing scope can be varied. I bespoke this service to your needs based on your brief and the drafting stage you’re already at.

Aligned with your goals, my revisions might include structural amendments, rewording for variation, clarity, impact or to reinforce your brand voice alongside standard spelling, grammar and punctuation corrections where required.

  • Early drafting stalled? Copy feeling stale, repetitive or lifeless? Not sure if your brand voice is shining through? Staring at a wall of text you can’t make flow?

I can bring a fresh, creative perspective to invigorate your copy, whilst ensuring the essentials are up to standard.

  • Copy editing can take place anywhere in the drafting process, meaning intentions and scope can be far more varied.

Proofreading is the final polish up, suitable only for a near finished product. Have a look at my ‘Proofreading’ page if you think you’re in the wrong place.

  • I hear you! Using AI is free, accessible and fast, making it very attractive on surface level.

But hallmarks of AI use in late stage editing are very clear, resulting in a monotonous voice stripped of your brand style, repetitive language, overuse of cliches and generic simplifications ignoring language that might be vital terms in your sector. Accessible AI models are pulling directly from the internet, meaning your content will be robbed of originality.

What will Copy editing get me?

My Copy editing offerings aren’t as clear cut as a proofread. I want to offer you a service, tailored completely to your needs.

So, here are the basics:

Completing the enquiry form establishes high-level details of your project. Led by your preference, we call or email to review detailed ambitions. This enables us to deep dive into your brand values, voice, and any challenges you’ve been facing. I’ll make suggestions, following-up in writing to outline the agreed plan and deadline.

Copy Consultation

I return my amendments, allowing you to review independently. We catch-up so you can let me know which parts are shining for you, and where you feel it might be missing the mark. Open feedback is encouraged - this is your piece and your business - edits should embody your voice and aspirations. With requests in mind, I begin a second revision.

Collaborative review

Bringing the process to a close, I return the final version of the copy with your requested changes, providing tuned-up text, ready to publish. I offer a 24 hour window to request minimal revisions at this stage. After that, we’re all done.

Breathe a sigh of relief as you press ‘go’ on your copy!

Editing FAQs

  • Highly technical subject matter, stringent brand guidelines, content form, draft number as well as the desired scope of editing all play into the pricing of editing a specific project.

Once you send me your enquiry and we’ve talked over the details, an evaluation will enable me to give you a solid rate - I’ll explain why alongside my price.

  • Once agreed, payment will be paid 50% at the start, and the final 50% upon completion.

  • Yes! It’s important to me that you feel in control of your brand voice during the editing process. So, if appropriate to the copy type, and your deadline allows, a sample edit proportional to the overall quantity of works can be provided.

Please bear in mind sample edits will never be free, I will charge a fee in line with the price for the overall works. If you decide to go ahead - I’ll deduct it from your total.

  • For longer form projects, rates can be agreed once I understand the nature of your requirements.

  • Please get in touch via email, or my enquiry form! I’ll review your request an a small sample of the copy, and follow up to let you know.
